The Ultimate Travel Hack: Uber Now Books Your Hotel Room

The Ultimate Travel Hack: Uber Now Books Your Hotel Room

Uber just made a massive move that changes how you plan your next trip. You can now book hotel rooms directly inside the Uber app. This update is part of the company’s annual Go-Get event in New York City, where they showed off several new features that push the brand far beyond just car rides. Through a partnership with Expedia Group, you now have access to more than 700,000 hotels across the globe. Later this year, Uber will even add vacation rentals from Vrbo to the mix.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, who actually led Expedia for over a decade, is steering the company toward becoming an “app for everything”. He wants you to be able to go anywhere, get anything, and travel anywhere all from one screen. This isn’t just about convenience; it’s about making Uber a constant part of your daily life and your biggest adventures.

Smarter Savings and Faster Tech

If you pay for an Uber One subscription, this deal gets even better. Members get 20% discounts on a selected list of 10,000 hotels when booking through the app. On top of that, members will earn 10% back in Uber Credits for every booking they make. This creates a powerful cycle that keeps users coming back to the app for every stage of their journey.

The speed at which Uber launched these features is just as impressive as the features themselves. Uber CTO Praveen Neppalli Naga told TechCrunch that these new tools went from a simple idea to a live product in just months. He credits this speed to “agentic AI” tools like Cursor. In the past, building a hotel booking system would have taken at least a year. AI cut that time in half by helping engineers write and debug code much faster. Naga believes we are seeing a fundamental shift in how people build software.

Travel Like a Local

Uber also launched a new “Travel Mode” to help you navigate new cities like a pro. This feature gives you a curated guide covering local favorites, tourist hotspots, and other helpful travel tips. Uber Eats is getting in on the action too. They are adding a “room service” feature that lists items travelers often forget, like toothbrushes or chargers. Eventually, this will include restaurant recommendations and the ability to book a table through OpenTable.

For those who want a premium experience, the “Eats for the Way” feature lets Uber Black customers order a drink or snack to be waiting for them in the car when it arrives. This shows how Uber is using its different services to create a seamless experience from the moment you leave your front door to the moment you check into your room.

Uber is no longer just a ride-hailing company. It is becoming a travel giant that uses AI to build tools faster and smarter than the competition. Whether you need a ride, a room, or a quick snack, Uber is making sure it is the only app you need to open.
